A support document to aid the teaching of Business Education subjects with the focus on supporting the lower end whilst improving/stretching/challenging the top end. I collated 8 strategies into this document in order to raise this as a target within the department. I have mapped out how the resources could be use and how this might enable learners to be challenged in the subject. These are by no means the only strategies to use for this but these are some that I felt were easy to embed whilst having the maximum amount of impact on students. The use of these strategies had a significant impact on the department and results improve significantly. I have removed all branding from the school/department. Please feel free to use as you wish.

Assessment tasks and mark schemes for Edexcel GCSE Business 9-1. The resources is some 3 mark questions accompanied with the mark scheme which can be used for on-going assessment, end of unit checking or homeworks. Please see the bundle pack for all sections together.

A course tracker for BTEC Lv 2 Business for students undertaking units 1, 2, 4 and 8. The tracker only needs the names etc section populating with data and this will pull through to the rest of the document. The individual unit sheets then feed through into the course overview which will allow you to closely monitor progress, put in timely intervention and predict student results with accuracy. All grade boundaries/points used are correct as of March 2018. The students would will enable you to build a picture of their learning and as such assess full areas they need to work on to improve.

The idea of this tracker is it leads on from a Theme 1 and Theme 2 tracker to look at how students are progressing on average overtime. Edexcel GCSE Business Studies 9-1 - Theme 1 - Section 1.3 assessment , mark scheme, student notes and feedback builder for self assessment. The idea of the resource is a short mid unit test deigned to test up to breakeven from section 1.3. There are students notes to accompany the test along with a feedback builder. The feedback builder is designed to engage students with their feedback as they build this themselves using green pen. To use the feedback builder: Mark the first 6 questions but DO NOT indicate if it is right or wrong - the students then find and fix their mistakes using their textbooks etc. Mark question 8 - however provide the students at least one question to improve their answer. Mark the final question, however DO NOT provide any feedback just provide a mark for the student.

Edexcel GCSE Business 9-1 Theme 1 - Section 1.3 End of Unit Assessment and Mark Scheme. This assessment covers the whole of section 1.3: Putting Business Ideas into Practice. This is complete with a mark scheme and a student/teacher/peer assessment tool to aid students with the DIRT following the assessment and to build meaningful and useful feedback to move forward and make progress.

An end of unit assessment and mark scheme for GCSE Edexcel Business 9-1 specification. Theme 2 Building a Business - Section 2.5. Making Human Resource Decisions. This is complete with Mark Scheme and student/teacher/peer reflection to identify areas for improvement within the students knowledge. The front sheet allows for easy green pen and DIRT to take place to show reflection upon progress.

These are homeworks for RO64 - Enterprise and Marketing Concepts. The homeworks cover all areas of the unit specification and are designed to facilitate progress outside of the classroom. There are several types of homework with a weekly plan to allow for easy setting. This is designed on the principal of “Look Ahead” and “Look Back” in that the resources will force students to conduct review and revision of topics which they have been previously taught and then allows for FLIP learning to take place. There are several different types of homeworks which are listed below: Knowledge Tests - these contain notes for students to learn and short 20 mark tests to check understanding. Calculation - these calculations for students to refine this key skill. Short Answer - Based on section B of the examination. Long Answer - Based on section C of the examination Video and Research - to allow for FLIP and “Look Back”

A revision lesson targeting knowledge and understanding of the early calculations within the AQA Alevel specification. However this can be used for other specifications and used as a stretch and challenge activity for MAGT students within GCSE classes. Topics covered are: Costs, Revenue and Profits Breakeven calculations Breakeven charts Cashflow forecasting.

An introductory lesson on the concept of Game Theory and the Nash Equilibrium. The lesson is interactive with the students participating in some Game Theory games before looking at some of the concepts around the topic and and how to construct a basic playoff matrix.

An A Level business lesson on the topic of Payback periods. The resources contains step by step student instructions for calculating payback periods as well as a learning ladder. The idea of the learning ladder is based on that of SOLO taxonomy enabling students to move from the most basic understanding to one where they can review a range of factors in relation to the topic.

An interactive introductory lesson on the topic of critical path. I either get the students to complete the critical path on their desks using whiteboard pens or I buy a roll of wallpaper for them to write on. The lesson starts by looking at my breakfast before introducing the idea of critical path. I print out the slide showing nodes etc and give this to the students to aid them in completing the exercises.

A revision lesson on the topics of globalisation and protectionism. The QR codes provide students with the information to complete and create their concept maps. They then use this concept map to undertake the exam question which is peer or self assessed. I use a PIE structure which allows the students to show impact of their suggestions on the business and then explain this out. The QR codes work for any device i.e. mobile phone or iPads.
